Hello!-))
I’m Gidon Herman, and I’ve been sharing the joy of music here in beautiful Gainesville, FL since 2009, when I founded Gidon Herman Music.
I offer individual piano, guitar, voice, bass, ukulele and mandolin lessons suitable for all ages and most skill levels. I give 30 minute, 45 minute, and one hour lessons typically held once a week.

My top priority is ensuring my students have fun while learning about music and steadily progressing on their instruments. Here’s how I make that happen…
- Learning the Songs You Love:
Through my own musical journey, I’ve discovered the profound inspiration and motivation that comes from playing the songs I love. My goal is to guide my students to proficiency on their instruments, enabling them to play the music they love. This, in turn, sparks a lifelong passion for engaging in music.
- Setting a Comfortable, Supportive, and Upbeat Environment:
Creating a positive, productive and fun atmosphere is crucial for my students to reach their full potential and enjoy the learning process. I achieve this by regularly checking in with my students during each lesson, understanding their needs and preferences.
- Adapting My Teaching Style to Your Learning Style:
Recognizing that every individual learns differently, I make it a priority to understand how each of my students communicates and processes information. I then tailor my communication and instruction style to complement their learning preferences, maximizing efficiency.
- Encouraging Self-Expression:
Beyond teaching instrumental skills, I guide my students to express themselves through music. By incorporating improvisational exercises and providing opportunities for uninterrupted exploration, I empower them to develop their unique musical style.
- Serving as an Inspiration:
My journey to becoming a musician and, subsequently, a music teacher was unconventional. I enjoy sharing my music background and the lessons learned along the way, engaging in real-world conversations about music and life, and occasionally playing for my students. All these actions aim to inspire a deeper connection with music.
